Winter Engagement Photos at Fayban Forest Preserve

UPDATE: They are now married, check out their wedding HERE
Joey and Kathryn got engaged under the arch at Fayban Forest Preserve in December of 2020, and naturally wanted to have their engagement photos at the same area. So, in January on 2021, that’s where the three of us headed. Kathryn and Joey absolutely radiate love and compassion. Kathryn is one of the most fun people I’ve had the pleasure of working with, she’s fun, spontaneous and loves the camera. When she arrived, she had a mental list of poses at the ready - and Joey had no arguments.

If you’re someone who doesn’t really like winter, you might be wondering “why the heck take photos in winter?” Well, there are several reasons for that.

  1. Snow is extremely fun to play in and looks beautiful in photos.

  2. You can go sledding! (and in the case of Kathryn and Joey, a kind man offered them a ride on his blow-up sleds, which was so fun and spontaneous)

  3. It could start snowing, and nothing is better than fresh snow. Joey and Kathryn were lucky enough to get some snow flurries on their day.

When Kathryn and Joey were offered the sleds, we all jumped on the opportunity. It was hilarious watching and capturing the sled because they were not on the sled hill, in fact, they were only on a slight incline by the bridge. They spent about 50% of their time scooting and the other 50% laughing.

We were in no rush to get photos done quickly. Even with the snow, temperatures were not too bad. We walked around, made sure to capture photos by the arch walkway, the windmill by the sled hill, and of course by the Fox River.

Both Kathryn and Joey are amazing, and I’m so beyond happy for them. Their wedding was July 24, 2021.
